Day 12: October 31

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Tonight, my friends and I went trick or treating. I went as a pig in my sister's onesie (like a babygro for adults). There were eight of us:
- A pig (me)
- A gothic fairy
- A nerd
- An Asian nerd
- A farmgirl (I was her pet pig :P)
- An 'ex-wife' (like from Mean Girls).
- Gladiator
- Robin Hood

To keep in the theme for this holiday...
Twelve lollies I received during Halloween:
1. Mini Mars Bar
2. Picnic - Cookie Crunch
3. Magic Pops - Popping Candy
4. Ghost drop
5. Mini Boost
6. lollipops (various sizes and shapes)
7. Milky Way
8. Haribo Gummy Bears
9. 'Zed' Candy
10. Sherbet Bombs
11. Twirl
12. Gummy snakes

Someone even gave us each a book and we got eggs thrown a us from a passing car. They missed! Bad aim to whoever threw them !
Bucket List: To go to America for Halloween one year and go trick-or-treating. My friend says its AMAZING there.

Bye for now (until tomorrow)

Day 11: October 30

Hi people of infinity (and beyond). Today is another sweltering hot day in the land where I live. (well, it's not THAT hot, I just wanted to use those words. for anyone interested, it's 29 degrees (Celsius).
Which is hot in my opinion. Today, I have had an icy-pole and an ice-cream. Good cures to the hot weather.

In keeping with the theme on hot weather...
Eleven of the best things to eat/drink on a hot day:
1. Ice-cream (of course. Probably vanilla with peanut butter and milo or maybe something with caramel in)
2. Sorbet (technically, they're different. Lemon, blood orange and mango - in that order).
3. Icy-pole (lemonade flavour).
4. Frozen grapes (they're really good, trust me).
5. Tuna salad (especially for dinner. it's really yum)
6. Smoothie (berry flavour)
7. Slurpee (I don't like the Coke flavour, but after that - anything goes !)
8. Fruit salad (one of my favourite foods, ever!)
9. Cold oranges (the orange has have to have been in the freezer, but you mustn't let it freeze)
10. Juice cups (they have these at my school, and they're pretty much just frozen juice)
11. Ice cubes. (if all else fails, eat/crunch on some ice cubes. they'll keep you cold).

Done for another day! Hopefully the weather cools down for tomorrow (HALLOWEEN).

Day 10: October 29

Hey everyone.
Today is the hottest day it's been in forever - I am seriously dying over here. (not literally - don't stress - I will still be dong regular blog updates).
and tomorrow, all my friends are going on a french excursion and i'm gonna be a loner in BYTES (one of my classes) and at lunch. *sad face*

Ten things I have eaten today:
1. Rusk and milk (The Rusk is south-african, by the way :P)
2. Pronutro (also South African)
3. Tiny Teddies
4. Mini cucumber
5. Sandwich (with strawberry jam and margarine)
6. Apple (red)
7. Two marshmellows
8. Banana
9. Tuna (There was some in the fridge and I felt like some).
10. Olives (the green kind - they're much better than the black ones).

ON ANOTHER NOTE:
"Directioners! Get excited. We're playing one direction Little Things at 7pm AEDST, then AGAIN at 7:40pm #LittleThingsOnHot30"

p.s. i love one direction (as well as other bands/singers).

Day 9: October 28

This morning I woke up with a sense of purposefulness and happiness. I just felt like getting on a float and singing about it all. Like I was in a musical or something. But, no such luck. 1. There are, unfortunately, no floats near me or 2. I cannot sing to save my life (which doesn't stop me. Ask anyone, I am forever singing).
At the moment, I am writing this, while singing (very off-key) to "Like a Prayer" (but the Glee version, shhh).

Nine TV shows that I think are absolute quality and that everyone should watch
1. BONES. This, at the moment, is my all-time favourite show. For people who haven't seen/heard of it, it's a mystery/murder show, sorta. The show centres around the two main characters, Temperance "Bones" Brennan, who is a forensic anthropologist (study of the human skeleton), and Special Agent Seely Booth. Booth is an FBI agent and Dr. Brennan is his partner. The other characters include Dr. Camille Saroyan (pathologist, ex-cop and boss), Angela Montenegro (Brennan's best friend, artist and does facial reconstruction), Dr. Jack Hodgins (entomologist - the 'slime and bug guy'), Dr Zack Addy (Dr Brennan's assistant, also a forensic anthropologist), and Dr Lawrence Sweets, the resident psychiatrist.
2. F.R.I.E.N.D.S. This show is hilarious. There are six main characters - Joey, Phoebe, Monica, Ross, Rachel and Chandler! They are al friends (hence the name), besides the exception of Ross and Monica, who are brother and sister. They all have difference personalities, which is what makes this show golden.
3. Winners and Losers - Australian Drama. This show is so addicting. At the moment, its the only TV show that I watch on a regular basis. This show centres around four best friends, who were losers in high school and then won the lottery. Unfortunately, I missed the first couple of episodes, so missed out on what happened right at the beginning.
4. Glee. I could watch Glee over and over again. The new season just started, with the addition of the hot Jacob Artist and the even hotter-now-that-I've-finished-on-Idol, Dean Geyer. Why do I love Glee? The songs, the dancing, the drama!
5. Gruen Planet/Transfer. This is the show to watch if you're interested in advertising, funny people and Todd Sampson's amazing array of t-shirts. This show dissects, analyses and looks at TV adverts. Some entertaining stuff happens, especially with Wil Anderson as host.
6. SLiDE. This, I'm told, is a less drugged up, Australian version of Skins (UK). It's about six people (I think), that just go on lifes journeys. Of course, there's the stereotypes - Mr. Popular, Miss. Skanky, Miss. Individual, Miss. Golden Girl and Mr. Pleaser.
7. Todders and Tiaras. This has got to be the most entertaining show on TV. It's rather scary, to see what lengths the mothers - and daughters - do to get to what they call beautiful.
8. The Renovators. Off air at the moment, but this show is great! It's reality television (which I love), about six teams of people, who renovate houses. There are various challenges, difficulties and people getting voted off.
6. The Biggest Loser. I have no idea who it was, but whoever came up with the idea for The Biggest Loser, is a genius. This show is seriously addicting. I didn't say it was quality TV, just addicting. The best way to watch is sitting in front of the TV, cheering your favourite person/team on, while you eat your massive bowl of ice-cream or something equally as unhealthy.

That is all for today and I'm pretty sure this is the most I've ever written.
I GOT MY PHOTOS TAKEN AT A PHOTOBOOTH TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME. I have always wanted to do that.
hugs and more hugs oooooo

Day 8: October 27

Finally, it is Saturday. This, as far as I can tell, is the best day of the week, because there's no school tomorrow. Every other day, there would be school the next day.
At the moment, everyone is out, except for me and Daisy (my dog). She's really annoying right now; she keeps wanting to come in and out of my room and then she sits at the foot of my bed, just staring at it.

Anyway, my list for today....
Eight of my favorite movies
1. Love Actually. This is the best movie of ALL TIME. For those people who haven't seen it - a) GO SEE IT, b) It's like Valentine's Day, but way better c) It's got Hugh Grant <3 in it
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. This was an EPIC movie and it totally paid homage to the book. I saw it at a midnight premiere with my younger sister and two friends. I went as Hermione. (total Harry Potter nut over here)
3. Mean Girls. An oldie, but a goodie. This has got to be the most quotable movie in the history of movies. Hilarious and a must-see!
4. TITANIC. I only saw this for the first time about two weeks ago and I have to say it was one of the most amazing movies I have seen EVER. I saw it at the Astor Theatre, which is an old cinema house which shows movies that have been off-screen for a while, playing them actually off the reel, not in digital copy.
5. I am Eleven. Alright, so this is more of a documentary than a movie, but I love it so much I thought it had to be here. I am Eleven is a documentary taken while Gen was travelling overseas. In here words "I wanted to travel with a purpose". Gen interviewed about 16 (I think) eleven year olds asking about their view on anything and everything. This was a project done over six years and I think it's definitely six years well spent. I recommend this movie to everyone; old and young.
6. 27 Dresses. As well as having one of my favourite actresses in it, it is a brilliant rom-com. Watch this with your friends - good friends, old friends, new friends, girlfriends, boyfriends.
7. The Lion King - This has always been one of my favourite Disney movies. I'm not sure why - maybe it's because of the lovable and hilarious Timon and Pumba or maybe it's my true African roots coming through. I don't know why - this movie has always stuck a chord with me.
8. The Hunger Games. Having read the books first, I think this movie was one of the best book-movie adaptions I have seen in ages. Characters cast perfectly, graphics and visual effects perfecto and all-in-all, the movie was fantabulous.

I had a dream. (No, this isn't a remake of the famous speech said by Martin Luther King). I actually had a really awesome dream. There was a car chase and these four people were running (driving) away from the bad people, but the 'bad' people were actually the two assistants. Plot twist. I woke up when the 'good' people found out who it was who duped them.

(I also like Inception, Twilight (series), ALL the other Harry Potter movies, Catfish, 2012, Looper)

Day 7: October 26

Greetings, my feathered friends (and also my non-feathered ones).
How is everything in everyone's daily lives?
The weather here (at the moment, and generally) sucks.
The weather
Describe:
 four seasons in a day
Picture: Click here

THAT'S ALRIGHT, THAT'S OKAY, WE'RE GONNA LIST SEVEN THINGS TODAY:

Seven of the worse chores that can be done inside the house1. Cleaning the toilet (especially if it smells). Ugh, I think that is one job that is definitely not for me!
2. Washing the floors (not that I do this anyway, but still). This sucks, especially because once you do one spot, you try to do the next spot and you end up walking in the first clean spot. There must be a special way to do it.
3. Vacuuming. Along with thinking this is annoying, I also think it's stupid. The dust doesn't annoy me, so why???
4. Hanging up washing. I know this seems relatively painless and easy, but I hate it. Especially when I do it on the portable line - there's NO space. And it just takes long. On the other hand, I like taking washing off the line
5. Washing the dishes. Breakfast/morning dishes are the worst, followed closely by dinner/supper and then lunch. It's gross, especially if there's little floaty things.
6. Sorting the washing. This is a chore done in our household and it's totally annoying. Besides the fact that my sisters and I have similar underwear (and clothes), my mom is always nagging to keep the clothes straight when I sort the washing into the piles.
7. Emptying the dishwasher. The only reason emptying the dishwasher made number seven is that my dishwasher isn't in the kitchen. It's in the laundry and whenever it needs to be unpacked, you have to walk from laundry to kitchen (about 7 steps) with dishes in your hand. Annoying alert!

So maybe I don't seem like the ideal housewife, but I promise I love to have fun and joke around.

Closings, reptilians. (I tried to replicate the greeting, but it failed).

p.s. One week down, 51 to go (357 days)

Day 6: October 25

.... . .-.. .-.. ---

That, my friends, is hello in morse code. *note to self* need to find out more ways to greet people.
So after the initial niceties, let me tell you something. In school, I normally like english, art and history. Current situation: *hates every subject EXCEPT for art*. Why? Well, we are studying the WORST FILM EVER in english and at the moment, I am disliking my history teacher.
LIST.LIST.LIST.LIST

Six of the best foods to have for breakfast
1. Fruit salad (yummy yummy) In case people didn't know, the yummy yummy was a reference to The Wiggles. I love love love fruit salad, because it's a mixture of fruit (really? *sarcastic face*) and it's one of my favourite foods. My philosophy: Why have one fruit when you can have many? (the same principle applies to smoothies).
2. Tinned fruit - My favourite varieties include tinned guava, peaches, apricots. Tinned plums taste weird.
3. Eggs - my favourite egg type would have to be an egg in the nest*, followed by fried eggs, scrambled eggs, omelettes and poached eggs. I've always thought poached eggs were seriously weird - but they do taste nice.
4. TOAST! Not bread, toast. My favourite is white toast, which is very rarely in our house, so I make-do with wholemeal. Favourite toppings include: Nutella (chocolate spread), avocado, syrup (with margarine), jam (strawberry, with margarine), margarine.
5. Granola Clusters. This is a cereal and I absolutely love it ! It's like muesli, but sweeter and it has a different taste. Oh, and it has clusters of oats. So, it's not like muesli, actually.
6. Weet Bix. I used to hate Weet Bix, because I disliked soggy cereals, but now I love it. How I make my Weet Bix: Warm up milk in bowl for about 1.30 minutes, on high. Take out the microwave as soon as it's done, so the milk doesn't have a chance to form a skin (which I think is gross). Put in two and a half Weet Bix and a spoon and a half full of sugar. Wait for the milk to soak. Eat! Lots of people I know eat their Weet Bix with cold milk, which I personally think is gross. I only eat Weet Bix in the winter, because it warms me up.

-... -.-- .  (bye in morse code)

*toad in the hole, egg in the basket, egg(s) in a frame, moon eggs

Day 5: October 24

Bonjour everyone.

My day has been suckish to say the least. School was annoying - my maths teacher was being (more) bitchy than usual, a certain person is pissing me off and I had maths and science homework. For the play*, I had to find something fancy to wear, which stressed me out no end. Finally found something, after about half and hour. Looked decent. Sorta.
LIST TIME

Five of my favourite colours
1. Blue - it is the colour of startling eyes and the colour of 'SIMS' on my Sims 2 disk cover. It is so beautiful and rather lovely.
2. Light green - Like the colour of the highlighter sitting on my desk, but maybe not so fluorescent. I've always thought green was a rather calming colour - like the ocean after a violent storm.
3. Orange - Such a bright, joyous colour. I love orange for its vibrant nature and the way it blends so well with yellow and red.
4. Pink - The bright, hot pant pink hurts my eyes and the baby pink makes me want to vomit. The pink that's sort of constant; a colour between the two hated ones.
5. Purple - I quite like dark purple; it just seems like such a strong colour - ready for a fight

That is my list for today.
Adios, siyanara (my Japanese-English spelling definitely needs improvement).

*I just saw A funny thing happened on the way to the forum and it was BRILLIANT, FUNNY, FANTASTIC, AMAZING. I just saw Geoffery Rush, Magda Szubanski, Shane Bourne and other famous people up on stage.

Day 4: October 23

'Ello chaps (and chapettes?)

Mondays are always busy - school, art and then basketball training. Factor in homework, TV sessions, computer time, reading and eating and you've got yourself a very busy schedule and my Monday.

Four (kinda) phones that I have had:
1. Nokia - My first phone was a good ol' Nokia. I got it at the end of grade six. It was a hand-me down phone (I think from my older sister) and it had a massive crack in the screen where my mom had dropped it on the bathroom floor.
2. My second phone was my first proper phone and my first own phone - no hand-me downs. It was a pink Sony Ericsson and I was quite proud of it. My contracts last for two years and around the 1.5 year mark, my phone started having what I called 'epileptic seizures'. The phone would just randomly shudder and then turn off. It got to the point where I couldn't use it.
3. My third phone is my current phone. This phone is a sliding Samsung. It has a touch-screen and a QWERTY keyboard. Just past the one year mark, this phone started having major problems. It just constantly turn on and off. You couldn't press any buttons to stop it, the only way to turn it off was to take the battery out. Everytime we went into the shop to get it fixed, it decided to work again. It's working now, after four attempts to get it fixed.
4. My fourth phone was a temporary phone, but it still counts! It was while my current phone was in the shop being fixed. My temp phone was rather brick-like. It was a white sliding Nokia and it had belonged to my older sister and then to my dad.

So call me maybe?

Day 3: October 22

Hey people of the internet. Me again! This time I'm up to day three. YAYAYAYAY! (please excuse my annoying internet sometimes, I think I get it from spending too much time on here)

Anyway... I spent just about the whole day thinking about what I should write about today, and my brain vault was empty.
Wait..
Wait....
I HAVE AN IDEA

Three Things I have learnt today
1. That 'surds' is a just a fancy way of saying 'to the power of'. Again, why do they have to make maths sound so complicated, when it isn't actually (sometimes)?
2. Diseases are split up into two categories - contagious and non-contagious. Being science and all, I really thought there'd more ways to split it.
3. I learnt how to write my name is Hebrew script. But, I've forgotten again. (well, it's the thought that counts). Yes, I am Jewish, and no, I have absolutely no clue how to write Hebrew. I can read it (providing that it's in print) and we aren't required to read fast. In fact, I hope there's a competition to read the slowest. I would win that hands down ! (wait, how would they do that?)

On another note, I got a cartilage piercing :D

Sunday 21 October 2012

Day 2: October 21

Good morning everyone (or afternoon, night or evening, depending on where you're from). I have absolutely no idea how to use this blogsite, except for writing the actual blog itself. But I do have a year to learn. Whoop!

So, list two today,
day 2, October 21
Two subjects I think should be compulsory until grade 12 (lets say there aren't any)
1. English - yes, I know this is already compulsory, but I totally agree. I mean, we live in Australia, a mostly English-speaking country/continent (whatever). I know some people take ESL (English as a second language) which is perfectly fine, but whether it's taken as a first or second language, it should still be taken.

2. .Maths - I cannot believe I just wrote that. I hate maths as much as the next person, probably more. Hello, when are we going to use trigonometry or Pythagoras' theorem in 'real' life? Much to my math teachers shock, no, I don't go around measuring the distance (whether it be vertical, horizontal or diagonal) between a ladder and the wall. So, why after my long-winded sentence complaining about maths, would I think we need it? My argument would go like this.. So, of course we need to basic maths skills - plus, minus, multiplication and division. Yes, we may learn them every year, but we still need them. I think the point of carrying on maths until year 12 is that you actually will use some the completely obscure equations that you learn. Especially measuring (because whenever I go to the hairdresser, and I ask them to cut as little as possible off, they end up cutting about half my hair off). One more thing, who invented algebra? Maths was all good(ish), when they decided. "lets make it harder by putting the bloody alphabet in".

Well now that I've written that, I have finished my second day. So far, so consistent.

Saturday 20 October 2012

Day 1: October 20

Hello people of the internet. So I've decided to write a blog. It's been a long-standing ambition of mine and today, on this rather dreary Saturday morning, I thought 'why not?'. So here I am - siting at my desk in front of my Dad's rather old, but stable (mostly) laptop.

I, Lauren Rosenberg, pledge to write on this blog every single day of the year with a list. (Unless of course, I am away, with no internet connection whatsoever, in which case the writing will be done before or after). Each list will have a different topic (to be decided by me, depending on my mood) and a different number (to be decided by the number of days that have past since this first day). Pretty much, the numbers will be sequential, starting with 1 and ending with 365.
Signed, me (dated, October 20th, 2012)
So, today.. day 1, October 20th
One thing I like about myself
1. My eyes - they're blue and yellow. At night they're dark and in the day, they're generally lighter. I like my eyes because they're really bright against my pale(ish) face. Because I wear contact lenses, people don't think my eye colour is 'natural', but I assure you, it's totally au naturalle.
