Day 159: March 27

I GOT MVP!

I FINALLY GOT IT. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING BASKETBALL FOR 9 SEASONS (INCL. THIS ONE) AND I HAVE GOT COACHES AND RUNNERS UP BUT NEVER MVP.

I CAN OFFICIALLY CROSS THAT OFF MY LIFE LIST:
Get a basketball MVP

Ps. MVP stands for most valuable player.

I love basketball. I really do. When I first arrived here and asked my mom if I could do basketball (because that's what everybody was doing), she replied with, "the American sport?". And to go on with the horribly cliched cliche, 'the rest is history'.

I first played for a club called The Garden State Warriors who were just me and my school friends. Some were better than others, but no-one really minded because it was just fun. After about 3 seasons, the club shut down. I was really upset because it was familiar and I'd been with all my friends. I think it was around this time where I had to stop playing. My last season was the u/14s summer season at the end of grade six. My sister started the season after I stopped. At the end of year 8/beginning of grade 9 I was allowed to start again. I was put into my first Bs team, just so I could start off again and just ease into it. We are never speaking about my coach again.

But, that was the first year I had ever won the premiership. I think it was because most of our team was too good for B but not good enough for As and we were stronger than the other teams. We played a Maccabbi team in the finals. Nuff said. Although, it's a bit sad, that by that time, I'd been playing for 7 season and although I'd gotten into the finals everytime, I hadn't won. Ever.

The last two season have been awesome. Again, winter 11/12 we got into the finals, but lost. This season, just finished we came third but it was a fun season; quite chilled.

That's the thing though. As a little kid, I used to be really competitive. Now, though, I'm more like 'yeah, I wanna win, but if I lose, I lose.' It's not such a huge deal. Like, it's always good to win, but when I lose, it's like 'yeah, great, next game'.

Some of the girls though that we play are so violent. I just want to tell them to go take their anger out on a punching bag or something, not on one of us. Sometimes I just want to punch some of the bitchy girls in the face. One of my teammates accidentally tripped this girl up and when the girl on my team apologised, the other girl glared at her and spat 'I'm fine' in a really rude way.

So I definitely won't be playing professionally ever, but it's totally fun and you'll probably see me creaking along playing with my wheelchair buddies when I'm 105.
