Day 163: March 31

WOAH WOAH WOAH.
GUYS I HAVE HAD 1505 PAGEVIEWS SINCE I STARTED THIS BLOG ON OCTOBER 20, 2012.
SO THANKS,
Thanks for overlooking the spelling and grammar errors
For trawling through the chatter and mostly rubbish at the beginning
Thank-you for being patient when I updated late
Or when I wasn't able to update.

The Imposter
This is a true story.
It happened almost 10 years ago.

Nicolas Barclay is your average American 13 year old. He lives in his Texan home with his older sister, Carey, and his mother Beverly. He goes missing on June 13th, 1994 and that is the last he is ever seen of. Or so we think so. Fast forward three years, to October 20th, 1997. Beverly has received a called from the Spanish Police, saying that they'd found a boy claiming he was Nicolas Barclay. Wrong. In fact, this wasn't Nicolas Barclay at all, but a 23 year old French Algerian man who lived as many as 30 identities in a week. He was known as The Chameleon, thanks to his ability to change so quickly from one persona to another, but up to this point, all his other identities had been fake. This was the first time he had ever been a real person. He was to be put into jail for fraud and to get out of it, he began calling police stations, looking for a missing person 'around the age of 16 or 17' - someone he could impersonate. He hit the jackpot when he found Nicolas Barclay. Frederic bleached his dark hair blonde to match Nicolas' and explained his brown eyes by saying he got them from his captors poking drugs into them, causing the colour to change. Frederic, acting as Nicolas, said he'd been flown over from Texas in a millitary style aeroplane and abused by a pedophile ring. He wasn't allowed to speak in english, 'which explained the French accent'. He got an American passport and Carey flew over 8,000 to come and bring him back home. She flew him back to Texas, where the reunion with his 'mother' was recorded. Beverly hugged Nicolas and told him she'd missed him. So far, Frederic Bourdin, the French man, had managed to con both the victims mother and sister into thinking he was the victim, or Nicolas Barclay. He would've gotten away with it, except for one man. Charlie Parker: Private Investigator (PI). Charlie had been put on the case when Nicolas went missing, to see if he could find anything. Charlie took one look at Frederic as Nicholas and knew he looked different. Charlie compared photos and noticed that Frederic's and Nicolas' ears were different. "If you wanted to change your ears, a plastic surgeon would have to rip the whole thing apart". Charlie made it his goal to expose Frederic. He befriended him and finally has enough evidence to expose him. Charlie took Frederic down for a chat at a local diner to tell him, but Frederic knew. He knew that Charlie had known, and he somehow 'deep in his heart, knew that everyone knew'. Frederic was arrested and served 6 years in an American jail for fraud. Nowadays, Frederic lives in France with his wife and his little boy. Frederic also told police that Beverly confessed to him that her oldest son had killed Nicolas and then killed himself by ODing.

This case has never been solved. Charlie Parker, PI, says he's still looking, but this is the strangest case he has ever worked on. Without a doubt, 'there has been nothing stranger'

I don't know what to think. While watching Frederic Bourdin on 60 minutes (news show), I liked him. He didn't seem like the type of person to go around imitating others. Not that you can tell, but he just seemed so normal and average. I guess that it goes back to the old saying 'you can't judge a book by its cover'. The family has since moved out of Texas and live in a small town to get away from the media and questions. I do think that Nicolas is dead, although was he murdered by his brother or by his kidnapper? He could be alibe and kicking, and maybe he, too, has taken on a new identity?

There's a movie out and I really want to see it. I think it's a really interesting case and I really would love to know what is going to happen.

Apparently the movie is good. My sister has seen it.

Okay, I swear my emails are the most boring lot you will ever find. Maybe my Facebook inboxes might have dirt, but really they're pretty boring too.
