Day 100: January 27

People fetch a pen, mark your calendars.
Take out your phones and make a note on today's date.
On this day, the 27th of January 2013, I Lauren, have managed to maintain this blog, 365lists1213.blogspot.com.au, for exactly 100 days.
My ultimate goal is 366, hence the name of the blog, but we'll see how it goes.
Each day, I have written a blog entry, with the list of things corresponding to the number of days. Each list has been different, and wherever possible, has been written on the appropriate day. Where uploading wasn't possible on that day, the list was written out and then put on the blog as soon as possible.

F A M E
Young girls and young boys often want to be famous. It's always a dream to be something where people will know your name, something where people will want to take your picture. As you grow up, the want to be famous either grows or subsides, depending on your career choice.
Many people want to be singers, actors, TV personalities or maybe an author.
Others want a more subtle career - teacher, tailor, soldier, sailor.
I'm at a crossroads. Is fame and fortune really everything it's made out to be, or does it just involve overrated, underpaid jobs?
P R O S
- You get free things - clothes, shoes, make-up, food, drinks, little cutesy-bobsy toys and other trinkets that may or may not be useful. In the wise words of Billy Mack from Love Actually, "Hiya kids. Here is an important message from your Uncle Bill. Don't buy drugs. Become a pop star and they give you them for free!"
- Awards. Who does't want the bragging rights to an annoying uncle/great-aunt/relative that didn't think you could do it? When they arrive, make sure to bring up the award in your conversation or just casually wander around the house with the award in your hands, until they ask what it is.
- Stylists, designers, helpers. Pretty much people that do what you want them to do when they do it. They hand-design your clothes, style them on you, feed you food and if you happen to eat the wrong food, there's always a yoga professional and personal trainer on board.
- High profile friends. This would be amazing. Who doesn't want to just casually slip into the conversation that Tim Burton and Helena Bonham-Carter are coming for dinner or that you're checking out kitchens with Johnny Depp. You know, just the usual.
- People recognising you. Everywhere you go, people ask for photos, a signature, something. This is a great perk for people who love sucking up to other people and also people who love attention
C O N S
-Privacy. Sorry, what privacy? When you're famous, I really think privacy is moot. There are paparazzi everywhere and you don't know who to trust anymore. Does that person just want to be your friend because you're famous or do they just genuinely like you?
-Everything is documented. If you do something good, like get an award, it's like "yeah, great, well done, next". On the other hand, if nude photos of you are leaked, shit goes down. Rumors fly, people get into trouble and you're infamous.
 - Judging. "The strangest part about being famous is that you don't get to give first impressions anymore. Everyone already has an impression of you before you meet them." - Kristen Stewart. I love this quote for two reasons. One, because it is absolutely and 100% true. Normally, when you meet someone for the first time, you act in a certain way, you're super polite and you're just generally nice. When you're famous, people already think they know you. They base what they think you're like on a character you've played or something the papers have said about you. Two, I think it's quite fitting that out of everyone, Kristen Stewart has said this. Everyone has their own opinions on her, and most of them are negative. They don't like her for some reason; maybe they think she's Bella, or they think she doesn't smile. I really like her and I don't understand why people judge and hate her so much. So what if she didn't smile in her role? Maybe it didn't require smiling? Maybe she didn't feel like it? Just leave it be.

So that's it. That just about sums up my feelings towards fame. I mean if you think you're destined to be famous, go for your life. At this point in my life, I don't think I'm heading towards stardom. Maybe I'll change my mind in the future, but I for now, I think that while being famous has it's perks, I don't think I could deal with people invading my privacy. I have so much respect for celebrities because they have to deal with us, the general public, as well as the media and the paparazzi. People are so nosey these days and I think they should get their damn nose out of other people's business.
